IU's latest album, Last Fantasy

This review is based on first listen of the songs from IU's latest album, Last Fantasy.

01 Secret – a beautiful ballad that liftsyou through wondrous places and will perfectly suit as official soundtrack forfilms.

02 Sleeping Prince of the Woods – is light and sweet,and gives off a magical, fairy-tale feel.

03 Child Searching for a Star – I have to admit thatafter my first round of listening to the whole album, I looked at my notes andfound nothing written for this song. It’s a beautiful song, however, the melodyseems like it’s something you’ve heard from a million ballads, until Kim KwangJin starts singing to shake you off from that air we like to call “bore.”

04 You and I – continues the formula that makes IU’ssongs a hit – it’s fun and charming while able to showcase her vocal ability.

05 Wallpaper Design – is somewhat mysterious andsorrowful. I wonder what the message of the song is.

06 Uncle – gives off that early Kpop feel reminiscent ofSES and FinKL. A dreamy song ruined by the rap part.

07 Wisdom Tooth –a jazzy/ bossa nova-ish song with IU’s voice full of aegyo.

08 Everything’s Alright – to be perfectly honest andblunt I thought listening to it was a waste of time.

09 Last Fantasy – even listening to just the beginningfew seconds IU sings in this song, it already makes u smile. There werecomments of it reminding them of a Disney song, and indeed, it has that feel ofa girl singing of one day reaching for her dreams. During the instrumental onecan almost imagine IU, with that dress she has on in the CD covers, bringingalong with her her luggage, marching down the road in the journey that willtake her to her rightful place in this world.

10 Teacher – this is the first song where I’d use theword catchy. It must be the clapping. It’s a chill, radio-friendly type of songwith a promise to be a huge hit should she choose to promote it.

11 A Lost Puppy – beautiful song with strangeinstrumentals, kinda haunting. Not likely to turn out as everyone’s favourite butit should strike someone’s perhaps eccentric taste. Somehow, I am reminded ofLee Hyori’s Swing.

12 4AM – I have high expectations of this song thefact that I read Corrine Bailey Rae’s name in the cover and apparently shecomposed it. It’s another beautiful song though I can’t safely say IU was ableto match my expectations.

L' amant – is a captivating ballad where IU’s vocalsshine best.

I'd have to say none of the songs strike me as "OMG I have to have this song in my iPod!" Ok, maybe, Teacher. Still, my favorite IU song remains to be her debut song, MIA (Missing Child). But, overall, it's a solid album for IU and I'm rating it 3.5/5.0.

G.NA tweeted on November 15 a photo and talked about having changed her hairstyle and nails. But they weren't your usual red french tips. They actually had stars and studs on them. Here's a close-up of those manicured hands. With her choice of fiery red and golden stars, G.NA is showing that she really is the Top Girl.

The girls of 4Minute are also fans. Here are what main vocals Gayoon and maknae Sohyun got for their nails. Dubbed as Gangnam Girl by fans because of her expensive airport fashion, Gayoon once again showed her love for the luxurious as she picks crystals to adorn her nails. Meanwhile, Sohyun, showed more of her young and funky side by choosing a combination of various patterns of red and black.

The hottest fashion trend in Korea right now – bottomless look.

As Korea say goodbye to autumn and hello to winter this 2011 comes the turn of fashion trends. Recently, female celebrities have been spotted to be wearing what is popularly dubbed as the bottomless look because it appears that they have forgotten to wear any garment for the lower part of their body. Ooops!? Let’s check out one of this season’s current style.

The first one is actress Moon Chae Won, as she attends a special screening of Chilling Romance, in her school-girl ensemble – a buttoned shirt, blazer, knee-high socks, and black shoes. She wears them with a hairstyle and make-up to complete her innocent look. But as you can see, her skirt is missing. But that is exactly the idea. This is to avoid looking custome-y, and incorporate a sexy feel to the overall appearance.

Next is Hallyu star, Yoon Eun Hye, also present to attend the VIP screening. Yoon Eun Hye’s outfit is more of the outdoor feel - her jacket, bag, and shoes’ colours reminiscent of military shades. To give it a sexy touch, she skips a bottom, and shows of her legs wearing only see-through stockings

It’s fairly easy to achieve this look. Just like these celebrities, just wear a long shirt, or blazer, or jacket, preferably one that falls between your thighs to make it more wearable. If it’s important to battle the winter cold then opt for the see-through stockings and knee-high socks, but you can totally forego with it if it’s not a problem. Then keep everything to the minimal as to avoid looking like a hooker would. One must always keep it classy. Plus after all, the point of the whole appearance is not your bling blings, but your legs.

SNSD vs. Wondergirls vs. 2NE1 Battle in Fairytale Concept

Recently, the top three girl groups in Korea transformed themselves into fairytale characters.

First in the list is SNSD. SM Entertainment’s popular girl group had the fairytale concept for the jacket of their latest album, The Boys, and The Boys MV. They are adorned with dated extravagant gowns and medieval costumes and accessories, with hair and make up to match the princesses and queen-like personas they depict.

Next is the Wondergirls. The five members all dressed up as modern day versions of Alice in Wonderland for Vogue Korea. Sunye was Alice while Sohee became the bunny. Rapper Yubin became the Madhatter, Yeeun as the white queen, and Hyerim as the Red Queen.

And then, there’s 2NE1. The four ladies got together with other females of their entertainment group, YG Entertainment, to contribute for the partnership of the company and Elle Korea to do a charity event, Share Happiness. To do so, they participated in a photoshoot with fairytale concept for the magazine.

So, what do you think? Who ruled and rocked the fairytale theme?

Personally, I think the Wondergirls did best. They were mostly able to portray the personalities and their photos really tell a story. Next in my ranking is SNSD. The pictures look enchanted and magical, much like fairytales are. Then last is 2NE1. Don’t get me wrong, they look great, it’s just that the image don’t give me the fairytale feel.
